The summit was intended to become a review of ‘container forces’ of the Black Sea region in the context of intensifying competition — including that with East Mediterranean container hubs. Participants of the summit were able to get maximally full information concerning the current situation in both world container market (thanks to the reports read by representatives of the authoritative consulting companies like |

The speaker’s reports involved topics of the future of container carriages in the Black Sea basin, lack of terminal capacities in the region and the boom in building of new terminals, as well as in reconstruction and development of existed ones. In fact, all operative terminals and those, which are only designed or under construction in Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia, were concerned. The speakers also gave analysis of barriers constraining container transit, touched the prospects for its growth and the issues of transshipment. |
About 150 top managers of the industry — delegates of companies, ventures, organisations related to container business; representatives of governmental authorities and mass media took part in the event. The summit gathered people from 17 countries of the world: Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Great Britain, UAE, Estonia, Finland, Moldova, USA, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and, naturally, Ukraine. |

PE UKRTRANSCONTAINER is operating the terminal. |
Investments in the new terminal amounted to more than 51M USD. Its throughput capacity increased to 850,000 TEU annually. Till here in the Black Sea region only the container terminal in the Romanian port of Constantza has had such capacities. |
